Some players have been posting screenshots of the NPC in Tinnidar.
From the screenies there's 3 boatmen around the Lake. Tinnidar, the dude at the camp in the far NW with the giant and the bog thingies.

And another one, but I didn't find out where.

Within moments of that being revealed, there must have been, I dunno, 20 posts? More?
Of people saying how it'll be a disaster, how Turbine will scren it up like EQ did.

This astounds me.
Turbine already has flawlessly working NPC mount travel and NPC swifttravel in place. A boat is masically a re-skin.

But because in EQ, sometimes the boat would disappear half way across an ocean, or the sharks would aggro you and eat you through the boat floor.
Or you'd get dumped out in the ocean and be eaten alive by sea monsters.... because of what happened in a game in 1999, and 2000, by another company, in a game that had oceans and sea monsters, that somehow means Turbine will mess up a decade later, in a game posessing none of those elements.

I am often at a loss for words when I deal with mental midgets with mediocre minds.

The key flaw in your post was that part where you read the LOTRO forums.

I don't take anything personally on the forums.
99% of the people are talking out their ass.

When I read posts about threat generation and stuff like that. It's all bullshit.
*I* know what goes in to figuring that stuff out, and I know these cats aren't doing it. So they really don't know.
They have a fantasy in their head how iit probably works. And they say it without evidence.

But, while I chuckle and move on, there's 30 posts of people yelling at him, or FAR WORSE, yelling at turbine because of their "broken system" in light of "this guy's proof".

Those are the scary ones.
Mob mentality.

The one post cracked me up, it was about how turbine should "let the core classes do their job".
Instead of mini's being replaced by RKs. and guardians being replaced by wardens, and hunters being replaced by RK's, and lore masters being replaced by wardens (i didn't really get that one...).

My reply, "Sounds like you don't know how to play your class. No one on the server would take an RK over me. Not because i'm a mini, but because i'm a great healer. If I played an RK, no one on the server would take a mini over me. Not because I'm a RK, but because i'm a great healer. You just appear to suck at your class."

Oh man, THAT got a rise lol

One of the best videos about ppl like that can be summed up in the World of Roguecraft videos produced a few years ago for WoW.
Most of it was a conversation between a warlock and a rogue.

Rogue: "After the patch changes, I can't kill anyone!"
Warlock: "That's because the classes were balanced."
Rogue: "So what are you saying? That I got worse?"
Warlock: "No, you were never any good."
...
Warlock: "No rogue needs all their cooldowns in every fight."
Rogue: "I Do!"
Warlock: "No good rogue needs all their cooldowns in every fight."

Nerf posts on forums crack me up.
It's like, ppl bitching about champs.
Champs have some easy mode options right now, and the classes they team up with have similar easy mode status due to the champ in their party.
When these changes come down, champs will still be amazing, but only in the hands of amazing players.
People who will go and bitch "Champs are useless now!".
What they're really saying is, "I suck as a player unless I have an unfair advantage!"

Yeah. I stopped reading the burg forums. Went there hoping to get some useful tips on how to play a class style that I was completely unfamiliar with, but all I found was bitching that the class was "hopelessly broken", "absolutely useless at endgame" and "a waste of time". Now given, I haven't seen endgame yet (hurry up already, faia ), but thus far my burg seems to seriously kick ass in most situations. I love soloing him. Now, pair me up with Faia's LM... and we are well nigh unstoppable. We do better with the burg/LM combo than we did with a hunter/lm combo. Not bad for a "broken" class

ok well obviously none of those players saying it will fail ever played world of warcraft coz the only type of swift travel available in that game is by boat (or zeplin which is just basically a boat in the air) I mean if a lame company like Blizz can pull it off I'm sure Turbine will succeed

The Warden forums are a fun, happy place.

The rest of the LOTRO forums are where intelligent discussion goes to die.

the warden forums confuse me

i don't know what a "+1 cooky" is, why our lvl 48 skill is called "Bakeries", or why many of them spec fist.

It.... it scares me:(

There is a sticky at the top that explains the cooky and bakeries thing. Along with the "ripping out my Warden heart" comment that is prevelant.

The Warden forums definitely have their own language and flavor. Kinda like the class itself.

I think people who play Wardens are like a cool version of the people who play hobbits. A little different, maybe a little touched, but not short.

Not short is the key.

What about Warden Hobbits? It's an oxymoron, I say. They need to strip that class from Hobbits ASAP.

What about guardian hobbits? That's the one I find the funniest.

Personally, we need to get rid of ALL hobbits. It's not like one is going to save the world one day, or anything.
